The Verticillium wilt problem in Australian cotton

نویسندگان

چکیده

Verticillium dahliae is a soil-borne phytopathogen and the causal agent of wilt. It affects many agriculturally important crops around world, including cotton. In Australia, billion-dollar cotton industry increasingly impacted by Internationally it has been reported that defoliating V. Vegetative Compatibility Group (VCG) 1A causes severe damage to Australia however, non-defoliating VCG2A causing more in fields than VCG1A. This review examines current research understand Australian situation, classification systems, genetic analyses management strategies. appears virulence cannot be defined solely VCG isolates disease cotton, must continually adapt their practices order keep under control.

Heterologous Expression of the Cotton NBS-LRR Gene GbaNA1 Enhances Verticillium Wilt Resistance in Arabidopsis

Verticillium wilt caused by Verticillium dahliae results in severe losses in cotton, and is economically the most destructive disease of this crop. Improving genetic resistance is the cleanest and least expensive option to manage Verticillium wilt. Previously, we identified the island cotton NBS-LRR-encoding gene GbaNA1 that confers resistance to the highly virulent V. dahliae isolate Vd991. In...

Spatial Pattern of Verticillium dahliae Microsclerotia and Cotton Plants with Wilt Symptoms in Commercial Plantations

Spatial patterns of pathogen inoculum in field soils and the resulting patterns of disease may reflect the underlying mechanisms of pathogen dispersal. This knowledge can be used to design more efficient sampling schemes for assessing diseases. Spatial patterns of Verticillium dahliae microsclerotia were characterized in commercial cotton fields through quadrat and point sampling in 1994 and 20...

Potential of Endophytic Fungi Isolated from Cotton Roots for Biological Control against Verticillium Wilt Disease

Verticillium wilt is a soil-borne disease, and severely limits the development of cotton production. To investigate the role of endophytic fungi on Verticillium wilt, CEF-818 (Penicillium simplicissimum), CEF-714 (Leptosphaeria sp.), CEF-642 (Talaromyces flavus.) and CEF-193 (Acremonium sp.) isolated from cotton roots were used to assess their effects against cotton wilt disease caused by a def...

Spectrum Characteristics of Cotton Canopy Infected with Verticillium Wilt and Inversion of Severity Level

Verticillium wilt of cotton is one of the diseases of cotton with extensive occurrence and maximal harming in our country even in the world .Hyper spectrum remote sensing with the fine spectrum information has becoming the efficient method to monitor the Verticillium wilt of cotton. The research was conducted in Xinjiang, the largest cotton plant region of China. The paper used data which was c...

Overexpression of GbRLK, a putative receptor-like kinase gene, improved cotton tolerance to Verticillium wilt

Verticillium dahliae is a causative fungal pathogen and only a few genes have been identified that exhibit critical roles in disease resistance and few has shown positive effects on the resistance to Verticillium wilt in transgenic cotton. We cloned a receptor-like kinase gene (GbRLK) induced by Verticillium dahliae (VD) in the disease-resistant cotton Gossypium barbadense cv. Hai7124. Northern...
